How hope. protects your data. Device-only processing, no tracking, no third-party analytics.
Last updated: April 19, 2026
Introduction
hope. is developed by Sefer Emirkan Yavaş (an individual developer based in Türkiye). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use hope., how we use it, and the rights you have over your information.
The short version: We collect nothing on our servers. All your data stays on your device. No accounts, no cloud backup, no tracking, no analytics.
Our Privacy Promise
hope. is built on a simple principle: your data is yours, and it never leaves your device.
No servers. We have no backend infrastructure that stores your personal data.
No accounts. You don't need to sign up, log in, or provide an email address.
No tracking. We do not track your activity, use analytics SDKs, or profile your behavior.
No third-party data sharing. We don't sell, share, or license your data to anyone.
No ads. hope. contains no advertising, ad tracking, or behavioral marketing.
What We Collect
On-Device Data (Stored Locally)
When you use hope., the app stores the following information locally on your device, in your app's private sandbox:
- Meditation session history: Dates, durations, and session notes.
- Pet state: Your pet's name, level, mood, and growth progression.
- Journal entries: Text you write in the app's journal feature.
- Habit streaks: Your practice history and streak counts.
- Settings and preferences: Sound volume, notification preferences, app language.
Where it's stored: All on-device data is stored in the app's private sandbox on your device, protected by iOS's standard file protections. This data is never transmitted to any server.
Apple HealthKit (Optional, User-Controlled)
If you enable Apple Health integration (optional), hope. can:
- Read: Step count and mindfulness minutes from your Health app (if you grant permission).
- Write: Mindfulness sessions you complete in hope. back to your Health app (if you grant permission).
HealthKit data is governed by Apple's own privacy policies and standard HealthKit security rules. You control which data hope. can access via iOS Settings → Privacy → Health → hope. You can revoke access at any time from that menu, and hope. will immediately stop accessing your Health data.
In-App Purchases
hope. offers optional one-time in-app purchases (themes, focus soundscapes, notification tones, app icons, bundles, and consumable coin packs). There are no subscriptions. All transactions are handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit framework. When you purchase:
- hope. receives an anonymized receipt from Apple.
- We do not see your Apple ID, credit card information, billing address, name, email, or any personally identifiable information.
- Apple handles all billing and payment data according to their own privacy terms.
Crash Reporting (Optional, Apple On-Device)
If the app crashes, iOS may collect an anonymous crash report via Apple's system-level crash reporter (if enabled in your iOS Settings). This report:
- Contains technical crash information only (stack trace, device model, iOS version).
- Does not include your meditation sessions, journal entries, pet data, or HealthKit data.
- Is sent to Apple, not to hope.'s servers (because we have none).
What We Do NOT Collect
hope. explicitly does not collect or store:
- Email address or phone number
- Your name or real identity
- Location data (GPS, cellular, WiFi location)
- Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, serial number)
- IP address or network information
- Usage analytics or event tracking
- Behavioral profiling data
- Contact list or calendar data
- Clipboard or keyboard history
- Photos, camera, or microphone access
hope. requests no dangerous privacy permissions from iOS. The app only requests access to Apple Health (optional, user-controlled).
Third Parties
hope. does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-sharing services.
We do not use or share data with:
- Google Analytics, Firebase, or other analytics platforms
- Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, or other social networks
- Advertising networks or data brokers
- Third-party crash reporting services (we use iOS's built-in reporter only)
- Cloud data backends or CDNs that would require user identification
Third-party SDKs: hope. includes no third-party SDKs beyond Apple's own frameworks (HealthKit, StoreKit, Crashlytics for error reporting only).
Children's Privacy
hope. is rated 4+ on the App Store. It is designed to be safe for children and can be used by anyone 4 years and older (with parental guidance for young children).
COPPA Compliance: hope. collects no personal information from anyone, including children. By design, we satisfy COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) requirements: no collection of name, email, address, phone, or any identifier that could identify a child.
Parents: If you believe a child has provided personal information through hope., please contact us at help@hopewellness.app, and we will investigate. (Note: Since we collect nothing, this is extremely unlikely.)
Your Privacy Rights
hope. is designed to comply with privacy regulations worldwide, including GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), and other privacy laws.
Right to Access
Your data is on your device. You already have full access to it. Your meditation sessions, journal entries, and pet data are stored in the app's local sandbox and are visible to you directly within the app.
Right to Delete
You have complete control over your data:
- Uninstall the app: Uninstalling hope. from your device will delete all app-stored data (per iOS standard behavior).
- Reset within the app: Use the in-app "Reset All Data" option in Settings to clear all local data while keeping the app installed.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. We have no server-side copy to delete because we have no servers.
Right to Data Portability
We plan to add an in-app export feature that lets you export your data (meditation history, journal, pet stats) as a portable format. This is on our roadmap.
Right to Object
If you use Apple Health integration and wish to stop hope. from accessing your health data:
- Go to iOS Settings → Privacy → Health.
- Select hope. and toggle off the data types you don't want to share.
hope. will immediately respect your decision and stop reading or writing to HealthKit.
Right to Non-Discrimination
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy rights. hope. works the same whether you enable HealthKit, opt into crash reporting, or keep everything strictly local.
Do Not Sell / Do Not Share
hope. does not sell, share, or license your data. CCPA "Do Not Sell" and "Do Not Share" mechanisms are not applicable because we have nothing to sell or share.
Data Retention
Local data: Stored indefinitely on your device until you manually delete it or uninstall the app.
In-app purchase receipts: Stored by Apple indefinitely per their App Store policies. hope. does not retain receipts beyond what StoreKit provides.
Crash reports: Apple retains crash reports per their standard policies (typically 90 days).
Server-side retention: Not applicable. We have no servers.
Security
Your data's security is protected by multiple layers:
- iOS Sandbox: hope.'s data is isolated in the app's private sandbox, inaccessible to other apps or processes.
- File-Level Encryption: iOS automatically encrypts all app data on disk using standard platform-level encryption.
- No Network Transmission: Your data never leaves your device, eliminating network interception risk.
- No Central Database: We have no central database to breach, hack, or compromise.
We rely on Apple's security infrastructure and best practices in app development. However, no system is 100% secure. If you believe your device has been compromised, follow Apple's security guidance.
International Data Transfers
No data transfers occur. All your data stays on your device, in your physical location. We do not transfer data internationally because we do not transfer data at all.
GDPR adequacy, standard contractual clauses, and other international transfer mechanisms are not needed for hope. because data processing happens entirely on-device.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app before taking effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
Your continued use of hope. after updates means you accept the updated policy. If you disagree with material changes, you can uninstall the app.
