Luna the Cat
A playful feline who watches over your practice with that classic cat blend of attention and indifference.
- users who want a low-maintenance companion
- practitioners who like quiet presence over chatter
- people who already have cats and miss them at work
Personality
Luna is the cat companion in Hope. She is playful in short bursts and contemplative the rest of the time, which is to say she is a cat. The animation pacing is deliberately slow. Luna does not perform for you. She is there, doing cat things, and the practice happens alongside her.
Her best moments come during focus sessions. She settles into a relaxed pose near the bottom of the screen, watches the timer ring, and occasionally blinks. The Live Activity on your Lock Screen shows her in the same pose so you can glance at the time without unlocking.
After a completed meditation, Luna stretches. After a missed day, she is the same. No pacing, no anxious looking, no scolding eyes. The cat philosophy is built into the design.
Evolution stages
Every Hope pet evolves through four stages as your practice grows. The shape changes; the relationship does not.
-
1. Baby
Kitten
Small, round, and slightly off-balance. Luna at this stage is mostly curious about the world. Movements are small and exploratory.
-
2. Young
Young cat
Limbs lengthen. Movements become more deliberate. The classic cat poses start appearing, especially the loaf position during focus sessions.
-
3. Adult
Adult cat
Fully grown. Luna settles into her adult personality: playful when prompted, observant otherwise. The Dynamic Island variant looks distinctly cat-shaped.
-
4. Sage
Sage cat
A small visual cue marks Luna as an experienced companion to a long practice. The pose is the same as adult, just slightly more settled.
Role in the practice
Quiet observer during focus sessions. Light reaction after completed meditations and sleep entries. No reaction to missed days, by design.
Inside the Hope iOS app
Luna appears on the Pet tab, the home-screen widget, the Lock Screen widget, and the Dynamic Island Live Activity during focus and meditation sessions. She is one of eight pet companions available at no cost inside the Hope iOS app.

- Can I feed Luna or do I have to play with her?
- Neither. Luna does not have hunger or affection meters. She is not a Tamagotchi. Practice in Hope and she grows alongside the practice. Skip a day and she is still there.
- Does Luna make any sound?
- No audio by default. Pet animations are silent so you can practice with your own ambient soundscape or in silence. The interaction is visual and on-screen only.
- Can I pick a different cat colour?
- Luna has a fixed base appearance. Cosmetic themes inside Hope change the overall app palette, which affects Luna's render slightly, but her core look is consistent.
